Houston Fourth Fest 2026 Returns to Vintage Park with Races, Beer Mile and Hot Dog Eating Championship
For Houstonians looking to start Independence Day with more than fireworks, Houston Fourth Fest 2026 offers a festive morning filled with fitness, friendly competition and community spirit before the day's cookouts, parades and evening celebrations get underway.
Returning to Vintage Park on Saturday, July 4, 2026, the second annual event brings together runners, families and spectators for a patriotic celebration featuring multiple race distances, a family-friendly run, championship competitions and activities designed to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary of Independence.
A Fourth of July Celebration for Runners, Families and Spectators
Houston Fourth Fest offers something for participants of nearly every age and fitness level.
The morning begins with several road race options, including:
- 17.76K Road Race, a patriotic distance commemorating the year of American independence
- 9K Road Race
- 5K Road Race
- Family/Kids 1.776K Run/Walk
The 17.76K, 9K and 5K races begin at 7 a.m., followed by the Family/Kids 1.776K Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m., giving families an opportunity to join in the celebration before continuing with other Fourth of July festivities throughout the day.
Championship Events Add a Fun Fourth of July Twist
Beyond the road races, Houston Fourth Fest features two signature competitions that put a uniquely American spin on the holiday.
The Houston Beer Mile Championship, beginning at 10:30 a.m., includes individual, two-person relay and four-person relay divisions for adult participants.
Earlier in the morning, the Houston Hot Dog Eating Contest Championship takes place from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is open to competitors ages 18 and older who are ready to test their appetites in one of the holiday's most recognizable traditions.
More Than Just a Race
While competition is a major part of the event, Houston Fourth Fest is also designed to bring the community together.
Attendees can enjoy music, patriotic festivities and opportunities to cheer on runners throughout the morning. Registered race participants receive premium race swag, complimentary race photos, and access to live race results and participant tracking as part of their registration.
With activities wrapping up before midday, participants have plenty of time to continue celebrating with neighborhood gatherings, backyard barbecues and fireworks displays later in the evening.
