Williamsburg Settlement Pickleball Courts Getting New Nets: Everything Residents Need to Know About Playing Tennis and Pickleball

Williamsburg Settlement Pickleball Courts Getting New Nets: Everything Residents Need to Know About Playing Tennis and Pickleball

June 26 2026

One of Williamsburg Settlement's most versatile recreational amenities is about to get an upgrade. New pickleball nets have been delivered to the community and are currently awaiting installation, giving residents another reason to dust off their paddles, gather friends or neighbors, and spend time outdoors enjoying the courts.

Whether you're already a regular player or you've been curious about trying one of America's fastest-growing sports, the arrival of the new nets will make it even easier for Williamsburg Settlement residents to enjoy both tennis and pickleball without leaving the neighborhood. It's another reminder of the value of the amenities that help bring neighbors together while encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle close to home.

Pickleball: A Sport That's Easy to Learn and Fun for All Ages

If you've heard friends talking about pickleball but haven't tried it yet, you're not alone. The game has exploded in popularity because it's easy to learn, social, and suitable for players of nearly every age and skill level.

Played on a court about one-quarter the size of a tennis court, pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Players use solid paddles to hit a lightweight plastic ball over a low net, either in singles or doubles matches. Games are typically played to 11 points, and because the court is smaller than a tennis court, rallies often emphasize strategy, placement, and quick reflexes rather than power alone. It's a great way to stay active while enjoying friendly competition with neighbors and family members.

How the Williamsburg Settlement Courts Are Set Up

Williamsburg Settlement features four tennis courts available for residents in good standing and their accompanied guests. The court located furthest from the street is designed to serve double duty, transforming into two pickleball courts whenever the portable pickleball nets are wheeled into place.

When pickleball play is finished, residents are asked to wheel the movable nets back to the top fence for storage so the court remains available for tennis. The nets are equipped with wheel locks, so be sure to release the locks before moving them into or out of playing position and re-engage them once the nets are properly placed.

Court Hours, League Play, and Guest Access

The courts are open every day of the year from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., providing plenty of opportunities for early morning matches, evening games after work, or weekend family fun.

The only regular exception is Monday and Wednesday mornings, when the courts are reserved for the Women's League.

Residents are welcome to bring guests, provided they accompany them while using the courts.

How to Obtain a Tennis Court Key

Access to the courts requires a key. Williamsburg Settlement residents may obtain one by submitting a completed Tennis Court Key Application along with a $25 refundable deposit. If a key is lost, a replacement key is also $25.

To apply, print the application available HERE

Mail the completed application and your check to Crest Management as directed on the form.

As the new pickleball nets prepare for installation, now is a great time for Williamsburg Settlement residents to take advantage of one of the community's most enjoyable recreational amenities. Whether you're serving aces on the tennis court, learning pickleball for the first time, or simply spending time outdoors with family and neighbors, the courts offer a convenient place to stay active while building connections within the community.
