Judson ISD Graduate Katie White Helps Power FIFA World Cup Events
For many students, a high school classroom is where interests begin to take shape. For Judson ISD graduate Katie White, it became the launching point for a career that now places her behind the scenes of some of the world's largest sporting events.
As Houston prepares to welcome FIFA World Cup matches, White serves as Senior Technical Services Manager at NRG Park in Houston, helping ensure the technology supporting the international event performs flawlessly for millions of viewers and thousands of fans. Her story has become a powerful example of how Judson ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs can equip students with practical skills, professional confidence, and a vision for the future.
From the Judson High School Media Lab to a Global Stage
White participated in Judson High School's Media Technology program from 2008 to 2010, where she immersed herself in television production, camera operation, video editing, and live event broadcasting. Rather than simply learning concepts in a classroom, she gained hands-on experience producing football broadcasts, working with the student media team, and operating the school's JumboTron system for scoreboard presentations.
Those experiences introduced her to the fast-paced world of live sports production while giving her valuable technical skills that would later become the foundation of her career.
One classroom assignment proved especially meaningful. During her senior year, students were asked to research their dream careers and map out how they planned to achieve them. White chose technical broadcasting, envisioning herself one day working as a Technical Director for the Dallas Cowboys.
Years later, she rediscovered that assignment and was struck by how closely her career had followed the path she imagined.
"Finding that assignment reminded me that long before I knew exactly how to get there, I already knew what I wanted to do," White shared. "I may not be a technical director, but I am the organizer of all the people who make the show happen."

After graduating from Judson High School, White continued pursuing her passion at West Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Mass Communications with concentrations in Broadcasting and Marketing/Public Relations.
She built experience in live sports production before launching her professional career at San Antonio's Alamodome, where she gained firsthand knowledge of the technology and coordination required for major sporting events and entertainment productions.
In 2022, White joined Houston's NRG Park. Since then, she has advanced to Senior Technical Services Manager, overseeing the technology systems that support Houston Texans games, major concerts, championship competitions, and international sporting events.
Today, as Houston prepares to host FIFA World Cup matches, White plays an essential role in coordinating the complex technical infrastructure that allows broadcasts, scoreboards, communications systems, and venue technology to operate seamlessly for a global audience.
Why Career and Technical Education Matters
White's career reflects one of the core goals of Judson ISD's Career and Technical Education programs: giving students meaningful opportunities to explore career pathways before graduation while building skills that translate directly into the workforce.
Programs like Media Technology allow students to move beyond textbooks through real-world projects that mirror professional environments. Whether students pursue broadcasting, engineering, healthcare, information technology, or skilled trades, CTE courses help bridge classroom learning with future careers.
For Judson ISD students and families, White's success story offers a reminder that the experiences gained in high school can have a lasting impact. A single class, a hands-on project, or even a career-planning assignment can help shape ambitions that continue well beyond graduation.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Judson ISD celebrates Katie White as an outstanding example of how dedication, practical experience, and educational opportunity can lead to careers with national—and even international—impact.
While millions of fans may never see the professionals working behind the scenes during FIFA World Cup matches, White's journey demonstrates that those careers begin long before the lights come on. Sometimes, they begin in a high school classroom where a student discovers both a passion and the confidence to pursue it.
As Judson ISD continues investing in Career and Technical Education, stories like White's serve as inspiration for today's students who may be taking their own first steps toward careers they have only begun to imagine.
