The Elgin VFW Post 6115 Fourth of July Celebration returns Saturday, July 4, welcoming residents from Elgin and surrounding communities for a free public event that honors the nation's semiquincentennial while bringing neighbors together for an evening of food, music and patriotic pride.
Hosted at VFW Post 6115, located at 118 Old Sayer Road, the celebration offers activities for all ages, with festivities beginning during the afternoon and continuing through a fireworks finale after sunset.
Honoring America's 250th Birthday
This year's event carries added significance as communities nationwide recognize 250 years of American independence.
The celebration begins at 3 p.m. with a public reading of the U.S. Constitution, followed by family-friendly games and historical activities designed to help bring the nation's founding story to life for younger generations. Organizers will also mark America's birthday with a community sing-along of "Happy Birthday" and a birthday cake celebration.
The patriotic kickoff sets the tone for an evening focused on both remembrance and community fellowship.
Live Music, Local Vendors and Family Activities
Beginning at 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening.
The musical lineup includes:
- Spellbound at 5 p.m.
- Twisted Round at 7 p.m.
Beyond the stage, visitors can explore a variety of craft and food vendors while enjoying activities that appeal to every age group.
The celebration will feature:
- Craft vendors
- Food vendors
- Cupcake and Cookie Roulette
- A large silent auction
- Water slides and children's activities
- Beer specials for adults
- Community fellowship throughout the evening
The night concludes with a fireworks show scheduled for approximately 8:45 p.m., providing a patriotic finale to the community celebration.
New Parking Option Includes Prize Drawing
Organizers have introduced a new parking system for 2026.
Parking will be $10 per vehicle, with attendees encouraged to prepay online to help reduce traffic delays when arriving at the event. Guests who prepay should have a screenshot of their payment available to present upon entry.
As an added incentive, everyone who prepays parking by July 3 will be entered into a drawing for more than $150 in gift cards from local businesses. Those who choose not to prepay can also pay by scanning QR codes posted in the parking area upon arrival.
While parking carries a fee, admission to the celebration remains free, making the event accessible for families looking to celebrate Independence Day together.
