Comal ISD Summer Job Fair Offers Careers Across the District and a Chance to Get Behind the Wheel
For residents across Comal County and the surrounding region who are searching for a new career, a career change, or a meaningful way to serve their community, Comal Independent School District is opening its doors this summer with opportunities to do much more than submit an application.
On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Comal ISD will host its Summer Job Fair and "Experience the Ride" event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the district's Support Services Building, 1404 IH 35 North in New Braunfels. The hiring event is designed to connect prospective employees directly with district leaders while giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about careers that support one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas.
A Wide Range of Career Opportunities Available
As student enrollment continues to grow, Comal ISD is seeking qualified applicants for positions throughout the district. Openings include:
- School bus drivers and transportation professionals
- Teachers
- Substitute teachers
- Special education and special programs staff
- Classroom assistants
- Child nutrition employees
- Custodians
- Facilities maintenance personnel
- Office staff
District representatives will be available throughout the event to answer questions, discuss available positions, conduct on-site interviews, and assist applicants with the hiring process.
Whether someone is beginning a new career, returning to the workforce, or looking to transition into education, the event offers an opportunity to explore a variety of roles that help support students both inside and outside the classroom.
'Experience the Ride' Gives Future Bus Drivers a Hands-On Opportunity
One of the highlights of the July 21 event is "Experience the Ride," an interactive activity designed for individuals interested in becoming school bus drivers.
Rather than simply learning about the job, participants will have the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a full-size passenger school bus and drive it through a supervised parking course under the guidance of Comal ISD transportation professionals.
The district currently has 25 school bus driver openings and provides paid training to new hires to prepare them for the required Commercial Driver License (CDL) testing.
Transportation staff will also be available to explain the training process, answer questions about the position, and help interested applicants begin the application process.
Individuals wishing to participate in the driving experience must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Possess a valid Texas driver's license
- Wear closed-toe shoes, preferably tennis shoes
Supporting One of Texas' Fastest-Growing School Districts

The district includes 36 campuses serving 10 communities, including Bulverde, Canyon Lake, Garden Ridge, New Braunfels, the northern edge of San Antonio, Sattler, Smithson Valley, Spring Branch, and Startzville.
Those campuses include:

As enrollment continues to increase throughout the region, recruiting and retaining qualified employees remains an important part of supporting students, families, and schools across the district.
